Furniture Features - Staud Moebel

Can you give an introduction to who you are and who/what your brand is? How long have you been in business? Have you exhibited at January Furniture Show before?

Staud Moebel are one of the leading manufacturers of Bedroom Furniture with over 350 years' experience in manufacturing and its history dates back to 1653! In 2018, a new hall for the production of bedroom furniture was built and put into operations in Bad Saulgau. With this expansion of production capacities, we now supply more than 20 European countries with STAUD quality furniture and in 2019 the decision was made to enter the UK market. After initiating our journey with market research and first pilot projects, Staud has been present in the UK for 3 years now. We were planning a big push in 2020, however, due to the pandemic and the Brexit we took a conscious decision to tackle the market in a holistic way, focussing on extensive preparation and analysis as well as on site presence. April will be the first time we have exhibited at the NEC and With JFS being the biggest furniture show in the country, our presence is sending just the right signal trhat Staud will definitely want to be a considerable player on the UK market in 2022 and beyond.

How did you start your company? Are you a family run company? If so, how has the company developed over time?
The exciting history of STAUD can be traced back to 1653. During the time shortly after the turmoil of the Thirty Years War, Matthäus Staud opened a joinery in Saulgau, which he built into a well-functioning business with great perseverance and craftsmanship. The love of woodcraft has been handed down from father to son for over 10 generations. In 2010, the company was sold to new shareholders due to lack of succession. Martin Staud GmbH has been part of the Vivonio Group since 2012.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to yourself when you were first starting out?
I can only speak for the UK market but it is very difficult in furniture to highlight and present the product without being seen and the importance of exhibitions like the January Furniture Show is key to really show potential customers the real quality and value offer presented by Staud Moebel. After lockdowns, this was proven by the successes in 2021 with our presence at the Manchester Furniture Show (Harrogate) in July and two exhibitions with the Minerva Group in June & October 2021. These three events were a great success for us.

Can you tell us about your new collections/ranges that you’ll be launching at January Furniture Show?
  • Innovation and design from our best-selling Sinfonie Plus Collection offering a large number of combinations and colours: sliding doors, hinge wardrobes, chests and bedframes to suit all bedroom designs.
  • New ranges such as Bodega displaying a stylish use of glass and mirrors.
  • Our Swing collection brings innovative flip doors where a complete wardrobe compartment can be opened without any noise and in just one movement. The flip door folds in half and slides to the side thereby helping to save space and optimise access.
  • The Aperto range with its “wardrobe without doors” is simply perfect for the dressing room area.
Staud will show these three new and innovative line-ups together with favourites like Satino which features frosted glass fronts, Includo and Includo Glass as well as decor or glass fronted variations with their respective accessories. The whole team is very excited at the opportunity of taking our visitors through our collections on our 200sqm booth.

Any personal favourites from your new collection?
For me, I have to say our Sinfonie Plus collection as it offers so much flexibility to choose any combination size and design to suit any bedroom size. The front designs give such a choice to create the style you like for any bedroom situation. Also our collection Satino – Frosted Glass fronts are the highlight here and our Blue Frosted Glass is a real eye catcher in this range.

What are you most looking forward to at the show?
We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to see for themselves the superb offer that Staud have put together for the UK market, seeing people in person, being able to guide buyers through our display areas is the best buzz for me, and we are sure visitors will be impressed by our offer.

Do you have any highlights from the 18 months that you would like to mention?
The best comment I can make is that we are delighted to be able to grow our business during the last 18 months. Being a new venture in the UK market at a time when Brexit and the pandemic have hampered our planned start we are very grateful to the customers we are working with and supporting us as we build partnerships and success for all.

What is next for the company?
We are planning to expand in the UK and in our home markets and take advantage of the vast variety of our portfolio. We will therefore certainly offer more innovation, within our current product range as well as additional new items. Understandably, we will want to keep this as a surprise until the moment of the announcement, but we see exciting times ahead of us.
